Union Bank Review

Union Bank, N.A. was the first major California bank to open a 7-days-a-week supermarket branch.

Established 1979, Union Bank offers personal, commercial, wealth management and small business banking products and services. In 2009, Union Bank received seven Greenwich Excellence Awards in middle market and small business banking from Greenwich Associates.

Headquartered in San Francisco, Union Bank has nearly 400 banking offices in California, Oregon, Washington and Texas. Union Bank is a subsidiary of UnionBanCal Corporation, a financial holding company with assets of $84 billion as of June 2010.

Personal banking

Savings account choices include the Union Bank Preferred Savings, offering a higher yield linked to higher savings amounts. The bank's money market account earns higher interest rates than a typical savings account. Checking account options at Union Bank include free checking and tiered interest checking.

Business banking

In addition to typical checking and savings account options designed for business, Union Bank offers business banking services including business financing, cash management, merchant and payroll services, global trade, and foreign exchange services.

Wealth management services

Clients can manage their wealth through Union Bank's customized services. The bank offers investment management and brokerage services, trust and estate plan administration and commercial loans for businesses.

Deposit insurance

Union Bank, N.A. has been insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation since its founding in 1979. FDIC coverage for eligible deposits was permanently increased from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor in July 2010. Joint accounts are insured by FDIC up to at least $250,000 per account holder.
