Starting with about $8 million in assets in 1999, Metropolitan National Bank has increased its customer base by opening an online banking portal to serve customers throughout the U.S. The bank has grown to hold more than $589 million in assets in 2010.

Financial services
Metropolitan National Bank provides free online banking and free online bill paying to all personal bank customers, along with online banking and remote deposit services for business customers. Customers can set up their own email alert systems through online banking, as well as check balances and account histories and transfer funds. The bank provides e-statements to all customers.

Metropolitan National Bank is a member bank of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The temporary increase in FDIC coverage from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor was made permanent in July 2010. All eligible deposits are FDIC-insured up to at least $250,000 per depositor. Joint accounts are FDIC-insured up to at least $250,000 per account holder.
