Investors Savings Bank Review

Investors Savings Bank was established in 1926, and by 2010 had built up assets of $8.7 billion along with a branch network that comprised 66 offices spread across 10 New Jersey counties. The bank offers a broad portfolio of products and services for consumers, businesses, non-profits and government. At the time of writing (2010), Bauer Financial gives it a top five-star rating.

Personal customers

The bank has three traditional savings vehicles, including its High Yield Savings account. In addition, it has a CD product that is exceptionally flexible with not only 25 different term options -- from 91 days to 10 years -- but also two Liquid CD accounts.

There are two money market accounts, and the best money market rates are paid by its Investors Edge product, which, as one would expect, requires a substantial minimum balance.

Investors Savings Bank offers six different checking accounts that range from the basic Free and Edge 50 products, neither of which requires a minimum balance to avoid monthly fees, right up to the Preferred Plus Banking account, which offers all sorts of goodies including a concierge service, Visa rewards, and travel and emergency assistance.

The bank offers fixed-rate and adjustable-rate mortgages and home equity loans.

Business customers

The bank has a fairly comprehensive portfolio of specialist products and services that are tailored for businesses, non-profits, and government. These include:

  • Commercial and industrial lending
  • Commercial real estate lending
  • Retirement plans for employers and employees
  • Merchant services

In addition, Investors Savings Bank has a number of specialist checking accounts, and a business money market account.

Deposit insurance

Investors Savings Bank is a member bank of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The temporary increase in FDIC coverage from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor was made permanent in July 2010. All eligible deposits are FDIC-insured up to at least $250,000 per depositor. Joint accounts are FDIC-insured up to at least $250,000 per account holder.
