Geddes Federal Savings and Loan Review
Boasting $450 million in assets as of 2010, Geddes Federal Savings and Loan Association has served central New York since 1948 and has been an FDIC member bank since 1949.
Today, the bank operates a main lobby, a drive-through, and a mortgage department at its sole location in Syracuse, N.Y. Geddes Federal Savings and Loan claims to never sell a mortgage, and that all of its accounts are processed in-house.
Bank products
Customers can compare savings rates on a range of account options at Geddes Federal Savings and Loan. Savings account options include Passbook Savings, Statement Savings and a money market account. The Looney Tunes Savings Club for kids features a $1 minimum deposit and interest-bearing APY above $25.
CD rates at Geddes Federal Savings and Loan apply to terms from 4 to 60 months. Retirement accounts include Traditional, Roth, Keogh, and Simple IRAs.
Checking accounts include New Wave (Basic Banking), NOW, Super NOW and Business checking accounts.

Deposit insurance
Geddes Federal Savings and Loan is a member bank of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. The temporary increase in FDIC coverage from $100,000 to $250,000 per depositor was made permanent in July 2010. All eligible deposits are FDIC-insured up to at least $250,000 per depositor. Joint accounts are FDIC-insured up to at least $250,000 per account holder.
