First National Bank of Omaha Review

First National Bank of Omaha opened as First National Bank in 1857 and originally served only Omaha, Nebraska, and the surrounding communities. Today in 2010, the bank has grown into the largest privately owned banking company in the U.S., serving more than 6.6 million customers across the country with locations in seven states.

According to the bank's website, First National Bank of Omaha and its affiliates have $18 billion in managed assets and nearly 4,700 employees in 35 states as of 2010. The bank has received several accolades, including being named one of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers" by Working Mother magazine and being recognized as one of the "best companies to work in IT" by Computerworld magazine. It's also the fourth largest agricultural lender in the United States.

Personal banking

The bank offers a wide variety of checking and savings account choices, plus CDs, IRAs, and HSAs. CD terms range from 91 days to 5 years. The minimum deposit for a CD is currently $500.

Financing is available for vehicles, home mortgages, home equity loans, and personal loans. Credit cards (Visa and MasterCard), gift cards, and bank cards are also available.

Online services include Internet banking, bill pay, and credit card payments. An online resource center includes a tax center, newsletters, calculators, seminars, and even a blog.

Small business and commercial banking

First National Bank of Omaha offers a Business First checking, savings, or money market account, as well as health savings accounts and tiered CD rates for terms ranging from seven days to five years.Online services include account alerts, remote deposit capture, and merchant services. Cards include business credit cards, check cards, and prepaid cards.

The First at Work program is designed to help businesses offer their employees a unique, customized, personal banking package that features free checking and preferred pricing on a variety of products and services.

Planning and investment services include business succession, estate planning, financial planning, retirement planning, and trust services.
