Online application and customer support
Prospective customers can create an account application online. On acceptance, BankDirect mails a welcome kit, an ATM card, and the first order of checks at no charge. Email and telephone support is available. Customers can access cash through ATMs, and can handle their accounts through telephone banking when they cannot access a computer. The bank offers unlimited bill-pay service online without service fees.
Products and services
BankDirect offers personal checking account products including one that pays interest combined with travel rewards. Money market accounts include one with mileage rewards and one designed for commercial customers. A personal savings account pays interest pegged to a minimum deposit and the bank offers a range of CD maturities from 90 days to 60 months, including CDs for businesses and CDs with travel rewards with a minimum deposit.
Fringe benefits
Account holders are eligible for discounts on home, rental, auto, and live insurance through one of BankDirect's partners. The bank operates an online Tax Center, powered by TurboTax Online, and an online foreign currency exchange offering cash or Travel Cheques.
